Three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound was introduced to the medical community over 20 years ago when investigators in Europe and North America reported imaging fetal and gynecological structures. In 2001 I purchased my first 3D/4D ultrasound machine for clinical use and began an exciting journey incorporating this technology into my clinical practice. For the past 13 years 3D/4D technology has advanced to a point that it is indispensable for the serious clinician who performs obstetrical, gynecological, and fetal echocardiographic examinations.
