    Description

We decided to produce this smaller and more compact, illustrated guide, which we hope wiLL be usefuL and more accessibLe for fieLd workers in East Africa. In it, we have described about 190 prominent East African reptiLes [just under haLf the totaL] and we have aLso added around 85 amphibians. We have chosen the animaLs we feeL the pubLic are most LikeLy to encounter. However, there are over 420 species of reptiLe and over 200 amphibian species known from East Africa. Readers shouLd be aware that not aLL species are covered in detaiL here. We have provided brief notes on some of the species we have not illustrated and described, including maximum size, generaL appearance and broad distribution [within East Africa onLy!.

    Enjoy!
