Hi,

Maybe you have already knew about it and talk about it but I've just registered to this forum.
I found out that you have had the wrong symbol as medicine.
Rod of Asclepius and staff of hermes are totally different.
The real medicine symbol is Rod of Asclepius which has only one snake on it.

Just sayin'

And I can gladly help to fix it.
 
Thanks for your suggestion and congratulations for recognizing, I think You are the first by now to question the symbol.

I myself did not make this Symbol, but let me give another interpretation:

"Vet E Lib" is an E-lectronic LIB-rary vor VET-erinarians, so therefore a kind of Messenger for technical informations concerning literature in veterinary medicine.

Combining the Caduceus with a big V appears not contradictional to me, but if the Staff had wings (which are not mandatory to stake the Staff as a Symbol, only the 2 serpents are, though the wings are more typical to Hermes) it would be easier to recognize as that what it is!

But this is only my personal guess about it and actually I did not recognize the difference myself before (or actually I could have forgotten about it :suspect: )!

Let´s see what our Chief, the originator will say....

Hi,

Initially when the forum started, we used to have two sub-forums added. One of them was a redirect to a Medical Forum, known by that time as, Medicalgnosis, if I'm not mistaken the name. This forum was aimed to human medicine only, with a library and several sub-sections of experience interchanged. By the time of the creation of the logo, or more accurately, the renewal making a refreshing update, the process of evolution to the final product, took finally the two versions in order to welcoming and gathering of the 2 forums as one, medicine and veterinary medicine.

As dear Vetaqua mention, we as messengers of info, wings and 2 snakes, DNA maybe.


This is as I recall and my opinion.

You mean 2 snakes as a symbol for 2 versions or 2 sub-forums or 2 sides of the same medal?

1 for vets and 1 for physicians?

That´s what I thought to have understood.

2 partners symbolized by 2 snakes on one Staff combinded...like 2 partners in one united project!?!

Prove that it is wrong!
I am still not sure about that!

"Apparently/Probably wrong" would have been the correct attribute for you to use!

And finally it is still up to the originator to decide what he wanted to express with it!

You don´t know about it at all and actually the two of us cannot really remember it, but still try to find out or just recall.
 
just a sign just symbol??? but i already known about the history of medical symbol.

What is really important in life except health and wealth? (rhetorical!)

Constructive questioning is always good, without nobody would ever reach further development, this is the sense of Philosophy, trying to reach knowledge as awareness.

So, this is not a bad question at all.

I think we should discuss if a Symbol makes sense or none at all to us.

All feel free to contribute, also some sideways to the specific topic can also increase our general knowledge...
